Mentor Graphics Foundation

Description: Education plays an
essential role in preventing poverty, eliminating social biases and
strengthening personal and economic power. Because education is so fundamental
to society, much of the Foundation's support is focused on education from
kindergarten through college. Particular attention is paid to K-12 schools that
have need for additional funding for science, math and engineering programs.
The Foundation also supports programs that enable students in the community to
participate in scientific projects and engage in intellectual dialogue
regarding current scientific theories. The grants of the Mentor Graphics
Foundation are limited to $25,000. No grants will be made for less than $1,000,
and no grant can represent more than 5% of the organization's annual budget.

Wildlife
Conservation Youth Engagement Grant

Whether you’re in a city,
rural area or a suburb, wildlife is all around you. In many places, wildlife
faces challenges. Are you a high school student with a creative idea for
conserving and protecting wildlife and its habitat in your community? Planet
Connect is offering high school students grants of $1,000 to implement their
problem-solving projects and participate in a local internship focused on
wildlife conservation.
Applicant must:
•Be 14-19 years old;
•Be enrolled in a U.S. high school program (public, private, charter or home
school);
•Propose a project that is focused on wildlife conservation;
•Be a member of Planet Connect (become a free member);
•Have "Liked" the Planet Connect Facebook page;
•Be available during the summer of 2012 for participation in a wildlife
conservation or natural resources
internship; and
•Have not received a Planet Connect Student Grant in the last two years

NFWF Invites Applications
for Five Star Restoration Grant Program

Description: The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), the
National Association of Counties, and the Wildlife Habitat Council, in
cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Southern Company,
and FedEx, are accepting applications for the Five Star Restoration Grant
Program. Five Star provides funding to support
community-based wetland, riparian, and coastal habitat restoration projects
that build partnerships and foster local natural resource stewardship through
education, outreach and training activities. A minimum 1:1 match of cash or
in-kind/contributed goods and services to funds requested is expected. Visit

Sharing the Wonder of STEM

Description: Samsung
and its partners are asking teachers to participate in its contest which will
address a key academic challenge in our country: to increase the pursuit of
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. With Samsung and
schools joining together, we’re looking to foster interest in these subjects
among students and illustrate the practical impact applying these subjects can
have. By filling out the application, you will be entered
in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest. Twenty-five teachers will be chosen
to have their classes create videos addressing the challenge, "Show how
STEM can help improve the environment in your community.” All 25 chosen
teachers will be sent a video creation kit to help complete the task. These 25
teachers’ schools will then be in the running to win technology for their
school, with at least 12 receiving a technology grant. The top 12 videos will
be voted on by consumers and a panel of education experts. Five grand finalists
will be invited to an awards ceremony with education thought leaders and
celebrity supporters.

ACS-Hach High School
Chemistry Grant

Description: This grant is awarded to U.S.
high school chemistry teachers seeking funds to support ideas that transform
classroom learning, foster student development, and reveal the wonders of
chemistry. The grant funds laboratory equipment and supplies, instructional
materials, professional development, field studies, and science outreach
events.

Teachers Helping Teachers Award

Description: Literacy Empowerment
Foundation would like to acknowledge the many early elementary educators who
help other educators. Examples of good deeds include starting a website that
shows different and exciting ways of teaching specific subjects, presenting at
conferences, mentoring new teachers, or volunteering with extracurricular
activities. Individuals may nominate an educator for an award. Every week, a
new award winner will be chosen.
Funds: LEF will send each winner $100.00 worth of books for their
school, along with a certificate that acknowledges their achievement.

Description: Do you teach 6-12 science or math? Do you
have a wish list of instructional equipment that will make learning more
exciting for your students? If the answer is yes to these questions, Toshiba
America Foundation would like to hear from you. Grade 6-12 applications for
$5,000.00 or less are accepted on a rolling basis, throughout the calendar
year. Summer projects or after school programs cannot be
considered. Salaries, facility maintenance, textbooks, video production,
audio-visual equipment (e.g. electronic white boards, document projectors,
student response systems) and education research will not be funded. No grants
are available for computer hardware. No single school may receive more than one
grant at a time.

technology conference, a 1-2 day event that offers sessions on instructional

Description: The FTPF, with support
from the Stretch Island Fruit Co., is sponsoring Fruit Tree 101, which invites
parents to submit their children’s schools to receive a special schoolyard
planting in honor of their son or daughter. No matter the location, if the
winning school is a suitable public school equipped with enough green space to
sustain an orchard, parents can help the environment and bring tasty treats to
their children’s classmates. Fruit Tree 101 will also present the winning
family with a fruit tree that can be planted at or near their home. Students of
the winning school will also receive an hour-long lesson about the importance
of trees, culminating in a group tree planting exercise that activates students
to take positive action for their environment.
