State Affiliate of the National Science Teachers Association
The Louisiana Science Teachers Association has instituted a new award to honor the memory of the late Dr. William W. Craig, Professor of Geology at the University of New Orleans. Dr. Craigs influence upon K-12 educators was profound, even though his area of work was that of a research scientist. This award seeks to recognize University faculty members who like Dr. Craig, have reached out to K-12 educators and made a difference in their careers. LSTA members are invited to share in the selection process by sending nominations of current LSTA members to LSTA for review by the Awards Committee.
The recipient may be a present two- or four-year college instructor who is a current member of LSTA and has been a member for a minimum of 3 years.
Composition of Award
The award consists of a formal citation, a $100 gift certificate and a complimentary one-year membership in LSTA. The award will be presented at the LSTA convention.
Types of Outstanding Services
Excellence of contribution to science education is the main criterion for selection of the recipient. Among the types of outstanding services that are considered by the committee are:
