The Claudia Fowler Distinguished Service to
Science Education Award recognizes an LSTA member for
distinguished service in the field of science education. LSTA
members in good standing are invited to share in the selection
process by sending nominations of current LSTA members to LSTA for
review by the Awards Committee.
The award is designed to recognize an LSTA member who
has made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of science
education in the sciences and science teaching. The recipient may
be a present or former school administrator, state department of
education employee, elected official, LSTA officer or other (at the
discretion of the Awards Committee). The nominee must have been a
member of LSTA for a minimum of 3 years.
Composition
of Award
The award consists of a formal citation, a $100 gift
certificate and a complimentary one-year membership in LSTA. The
award will be presented at the LSTA convention.
Types of
Outstanding Services
Excellence of contribution to LSTA is the main
criterion for selection of the recipient. Among the types of
outstanding services that are considered by the committee are:

Unique or extraordinary contributions to the LSTA
organization

Contributions to LSTA over a significant period
of time.

Active leadership in science education at local,
state, or national level.
-
Noteworthy
scholarly contributions to science education at any level.

Direct and substantial contributions to the
improvement of science education at any level.

Overall excellence of contributions.
One (1) original and four (4) copies of all materials
and letters of support must be submitted in one envelope to:

Failure to follow rules precisely will
result in disqualification.
